@kwellscomm

There’s been talk for many years about the “Black Dollar” having ‘Power’ and turning around the “Black Dollar” in our community before it leaves. Socially conscious experts with an eye on economics suggest that oftentimes black consumers don’t know how to utilize the power of their dollar to benefit of the black community or keep it flowing in the community before it leaves. That may be changing with a trend of increased deposits to black banks.

Black consumers will get a chance, up close and personal, to learn about the power of the “Black Dollar” and see what that power looks like today in the heart of the city as activists and entrepreneurs are gathering on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street at the historic Flanner House from 2 – 5 p.m. for the BOB Block Party.

Organizers invite you to come and participate at this free event connecting our community to the resources of our community.

This is an outreach program of social justice organization, D.O.N.T. S.L.E.E.P.

Click the media player below to hear my conversation with DONT SLEEP’s founder and president, Dominic Dorsey about the purpose of today’s event and what you’ll experience when you arrive.
