A community forum is taking place right now in Indy on the northeast side to observe National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day–an event which highlights the importance of education, prevention, testing, treatment, services and advocacy in the Black Community around the issue of HIV/AIDS. Friday’s event is helmed by the Minority Health Coalition of Marion County with a host of collaborating partners because the African-American community continues to experience the most severe burden of the HIV epidemic in this country compared to other ethnic groups. Marcus Sanders, an HIV/AIDS Counselor/Tester/Prevention Advocate who is one of the organizers of today’s free event, sat down with me here on Access Indy with Kim Wells to discuss HIV/AIDS and today’s community event.

The entertaining and educational event is FREE for today’s Indianapolis observance. The city-wide forum will be held at the Marion County Public Health Department, 4012 N. Rural St., until 2 p.m. Click the flier for other details and a phone number for free HIV testing here in Indy.
