The Notorious B.I.G. Posthumously Inducted Into RRHOF

The Notorious B.I.G. posthumously joins the pantheon of rappers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  On Saturday, a prerecorded ceremony finally aired on HBO to honor this year’s inductees, who also included Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Doobie Brothers and Depeche Mode.  Biggie’s son, C.J., and daughter, T’yanna, accepted the honor on their father’s behalf.  The duo talked about their father’s accomplishments and called him a revolutionary for his “dedication to Black music.”  B.I.G., who was infamously shot and killed in 1997, now joins a short list of rappers who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame over the years including Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C., Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A, and Tupac Shakur.

Rihanna Transforms Instagram Grid Calling For Every Vote To Be Counted

Rihanna is calling for every single vote in the presidential election to be counted. The singer transformed her Instagram grid Wednesday night and made six separate Instagram posts to make her feed read “count every vote we’ll wait.” The move comes after President Donald Trump falsely declared victory Tuesday night and declared vote-counting efforts as a fraud. Rihanna also shared a similar message on Twitter.

Dr. Dre’s Wife Wants His Alleged Mistresses To Testify

Dr. Dre and Nicole Young’s billion-dollar divorce is getting messier. The Daily Mail reported over the weekend that Young is now attempting to subpoena three women she accuses of being Dre’s mistresses in an effort to get the judge to toss out their prenuptial agreement. According to reports, Young is trying to get subpoena depositions from singer Jillian Speer, former model Kili Anderson and Latin Hip Hop artist Crystal Rogers but they’ve all hired lawyer Kris LeFan to fight it. Dre says the agreement, which was signed in 1996, is still valid, but Young claims he later tore it up in a spontaneous romantic gesture. Therefore, she believes the document doesn’t hold any weight. The couple will now have to wait on a Los Angeles Superior judge to determine whether the prenup is valid and enforceable.

Chappelle To Host Post-Election SNL

Comedian Dave Chappelle will host Saturday Night Live’s post-election episode. This will mark the first time Chapelle has fronted the show since the week President Trump won the race in 2016. The November 7th show was recently added, with Variety reporting it’s likely been done so they can respond directly to the election results, or whatever results are known by the weekend. SNL resumed live in-studio shows weeks ago and has devoted plenty of content to election sketches featuring Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey and Maya Rudolph.

Whitney Houston Becomes First Black Artist With Three Diamond Albums

The late Whitney Houston has hit a major career milestone.  The pop icon is officially the first Black recording artist to put up three RIAA Diamond-certified albums.  Her 1987 hit “Whitney” has been certified 10x Platinum.  To date, only three Black artists have had two Diamond albums – Michael Jackson, Tupac and Mariah Carey.  Ten more have had one.  Houston will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the 35th annual induction ceremony on November 7th, which will air on HBO and HBO Max.

Jay-Z’s business dealings in the marijuana industry are growing. On Friday, Hov announced his new cannabis line, Monogram. Details regarding the strains of marijuana that Monogram will offer, as well as when it’ll be available and where, have not yet been revealed. However, a website and a Twitter page have been launched to keep those interested in the company informed on updates. Along with the release, Jay also dropped a playlist on Tidal to coincide with the announcement of his marijuana line.

Michael B. Jordan might be making his directorial debut very soon. Deadline reports that the actor is interested in directing the third installment in the “Creed” movie series. Jordan already plans to reprise his role as Adonis Creed in “Creed III.” “Creed III” would be the ninth installment in the “Rocky” franchise that originally starred Sylvester Stallone and was released in 1977.

 

Shaq Named Special Reserve Sheriff’s Deputy In LA Parish

Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is officially a special member of law enforcement in Louisiana. The former NBA star was given the title of a special reserve deputy in St. Martin Parish Wednesday. On Facebook, the office thanked Shaq for his kindness, support and encouragement that he has provided to the deputies in the past. Earlier in the year, Shaq pitched in to cover the funeral expenses of an eleven-year-old Breaux Bridge boy killed in a car crash.

The beverage company discovered the 1997 archive just in time for the rapper’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Biggie Smalls rapped about how much he loves Pepsi during a radio appearance back in the day. Pepsi even created a short music video to go along with the rhyme. Now, they are using the video to promote Biggie. He will be honored at the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on November 7th on HBO.

Sacha Baron Cohen is pranking Rudy Giuliani in his new “Borat” movie. TMZ reports in the film the former New York mayor meets a reporter from conservative media for an interview. The attractive woman suggests they go to the bedroom for a drink. While she removes their microphones, Giuliani lies on the bed and puts his hand inside his pants. That’s when the Borat character bursts into the room and claims the woman is his daughter. Borat 2 begins playing Friday on Amazon Prime Video.

“Good Grief!” Charlie Brown won’t be saying that on TV this Halloween. At least, not on the channel families are used to. For the first time in 54 years, the holiday tradition of watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is changing. The animated classic has moved to Apple TV-plus. But here’s the good news. Fans can still watch it for free from October 30th to November 1st. The streaming service will also offer free days for “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” next month and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in December.
