It’s official – Sade’s new album “Soldier of Love” has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and has reached gold status in only its first week of sales.
The album — Sade’s first in ten years and first No. 1 disc in 20 years – sold 501,665 units in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The CD is the follow-up to their Grammy-winning album “Lovers Rock,” released in 2000.
The group, led by 51-year-old Sade Adu, has been busy promoting “Soldier of Love” on various talk shows, including a performance last night on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” [Watch footage below.]
