Many Americans who are in the low to moderate income levels are eligible for tax relief. IRS official Cecilia Barreda says people with lower-paying jobs should check to see if they’re eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. The EITC is a refundable tax credit which means that even if you don’t owe any taxes, you could still qualify to get some money back if you file a tax return. But, there are certain requirements that must be met. The IRS recommends that all workers who earned around 54-thousand-dollars or less look into their eligibility. Barreda says eligible families with three or more qualifying children could get a credit of up to six-thousand-four-hundred-31-dollars. There are also options for folks without children. Single people who qualify can receive up to 519-dollars. The IRS maintains that the EITC can really make a big difference for working families and everyone who falls within the lower to moderate income bracket should check to see if they’re eligible by using the online tool on the IRS website.
