Hip-hop star Queen Latifah is building a new affordable housing complex in Newark. The New Jersey native says the 14-million-dollar project is expected to break ground this summer at Springfield Avenue and South 17th Street. It will include residential town houses, a fitness center and commercial space that will be rented to non profits. Latifah was born in Newark and raised in East Orange.
