A new study claims women in media and government face online harassment once every 30 seconds. Amnesty International did a study that analyzed hundreds of thousands of tweets sent in 2017. Women of color were 84 percent more likely to be mentioned in abusive or harassing tweets than their white peers. Amnesty International’s Milena Marin told the Financial Times that they have the data to show what women have long complained about: Racism, misogyny and homophobia are allowed to flourish unchecked on Twitter. Twitter CEA Jack Dorsey has said he wants to improve the civility of discussion on the platform.
