Fans are leaving flowers on Penny Marshall’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame after news of her death at age 75. A spokeswoman for Marshall’s family says she passed away peacefully in her Hollywood Hills home Monday night due to complications from diabetes. Marshall is perhaps best known for starring in the hit TV sitcom “Laverne and Shirley,” which ran from 1976 to 1983. The Bronx native got her first big directing job in 1986 for Whoopi Goldberg’s action-comedy Jumpin Jack Flash. With her second film, Big, starring Tom Hanks, Marshall became the first woman to direct a film that grossed more than 100-million-dollars.
