Meet And Greet With Iyanla Vanzant For OWN's 'Iyanla: Fix My Life'

Tamar told Wendy Williams that she had to walk out of the sit down with the Iyanla Vanzant because she reportedly sex-shamed her after she revealed that she was molested by both sides of her family.

It was an interesting and damning claim, one so harmful that there are reports that Vanzant might be looking to press charges against Braxton for defamation of character. Really, the idea that a victim of sexual assault would be shamed makes the trauma of their experience that much worse. And given the number of times Vanzant has come into contact with people who’ve experienced sexual abuse, this would present a huge issue and honestly, a discredit to her work.

But in a clip from the upcoming episode of “Braxton Family Values,” where Iyanla steps in to talk to the family, it seems that Tamar is not the only one who walks out of the intervention.

In a clip released on “Braxton Family Values” Twitter page, Iyanla confronts one of the cast members that they way they run their family story is a problem.

Then, before she walks out, she told someone, “You can’t do what I do because I tell the truth.”

Lord!

Who knows if any healing will actually take place. Given the comments Tamar has made about Iyanla, I doubt that she was able to get through to them. And this is not the first time, the sisters have sought counsel from a tv-personality. Dr. Sherry tried to work with the sisters to heal. Tamar also decided that she couldn’t stay for that intervention and walked out. Then the sisters spoke with Bishop T.D. Jakes about the issues they had as a family. They seemed to be receptive to him. And I have to wonder if that has something to do with the fact that he’s a man and a man in the church so they felt a different obligation and respect for his time. But for the viewers, it will be great television.
