Production of Ford’s popular F-Series pickups is grinding to a halt for the time being. The automaker blamed a parts shortage after an explosion and fire at a major components supplier in Michigan a week ago. The move will temporarily close Ford’s truck assembly plants in Dearborn and Kansas City which both make F-150s. More than 75-hundred UAW workers face temporary layoffs until the problem is fixed. The Ford plant in Louisville, Kentucky which makes F-Series Super Duty trucks is also affected.
