Happy Valentine’s Day to you…
First, serious headlines. Police are looking for help in locating a black teenager missing from Gary. A statewide AMBER Alert has been issued for 15-year-old Chastinea Reeves. She was last seen around 2 a.m. Monday morning and is believed to be in extreme danger. She’s described as black, five-foot-two, 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a gray t-shirt and black jeans when she was last seen.
Also… Carol County police this Tuesday morning are searching for a pair of missing 13-year-old girls last seen near Delphi in northern part of Central Indiana. WTHR-TV reports Liberty German and Abigail Williams were last seen around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon near an abandoned railroad bridge known as the “Monon High Bridge” just outside of Delphi. They were hanging out there on the trail and family members say “Libby” and “Abby” didn’t show back up at the appropriate time for pickup. No AMBER alert has been issued on this case of missing children because they’re not believed to be in extreme danger at this time. A longtime downtown homeless camp known as “The Jungle” is being shut down. According to The Indianapolis Star, the property is owned by CSX Transportation, which is calling for the area to be cleared. A statement from the railroad says it is working with organizations to make sure those displaced aren’t left without options. No relocation deadline has been given to those living in the camp.
A $4.5 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot is going back into the prize pot. That’s because the person holding the winning ticket didn’t claim their prize before Monday’s deadline. The ticket was purchased at an Indianapolis Marsh Supermarket on West 86th Street for the August 17th drawing. All Hoosier Lottery prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing.

President Donald Trump is looking for a new national security advisor…this after last night’s resignation of the embattled Michael Flynn. Flynn stepped down amid a flurry of questions about whether he discussed lifting sanctions against Moscow with the Russian ambassador before Trump’s inauguration. In his resignation letter, Flynn says he inadvertently gave Vice President Mike Pence “incomplete information” about his talks. Others say he lied to the administration who accepted his resignation. Now Army Lieutenant General Joseph Kellogg is acting security advisor while the search continues. Prior to Flynn stepping down, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and others were calling for his security clearance to be revoked while the issue was investigated.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is demanding more information about nationwide Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids also known as ICE raids over the past week. The New York Democrat recently said undocumented immigrants live in fear and are “confused and scared.” Schumer told media he’s troubled by the lack of transparency and reports that ICE agents targeted non-violent immigrant families, including those with traffic violations. He said treating them the same as killers and robbers is just wrong.
Small business owners are feeling better about the economy. A monthly small business optimism index has increased to its highest level since December 2004, surprising analysts who were expecting a decline. Forty-eight percent of business owners expect conditions to improve. It’s a major jump. That figure rested at a mere 12-percent in November.

The founder of the company who owns WTLC Radio, Cathy Hughes, will appear with the cast of the film “MEDIA” will today on the daytime talk show “THE REAL.” It’s a Valentine’s Day episode of the show where steamy actors, Brian White, Pooch Hall and Finesse Mitchell who star in “MEDIA” will be with ‘Mrs. H.’ If you’d like to check out some of your favorite actors and learn more about this drama that gives the viewer a look at the cut-throat world of a major entertainment business, catch “The REAL” right here on-air in Indy today at 3 p.m. Eastern on WNDY-TV 23.
It’s February 14th…Happy Valentine’s Day! Know that today may just be your lucky day, even if Valentine’s isn’t really your thing. According to the calendar, it turns out it’s also National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day. On top of that, thrill seekers can rejoice in the fact that it’s National Ferris Wheel Day. This is the day back in 1859 that the inventor of the ferris wheel, George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr., was born. Today is also what’s known as National Donor Day. That’s “Donor” as in organ donor. The day is meant to call attention to the more than 120,000 people across the U.S. whose names are on a list of those waiting for the gift of a life-saving organ donation. In Sports…
The losing streak continues for the Pacers. They fell short at home Monday night in a 110-106 loss to the Spurs. Paul George led the Pacers with 27 points and Myles Turner added 22. The Pacers fourth loss in a row leaves it at 29-and-26. The Pacers visit the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night before hosting the Wizards on Thursday.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and basketball great Michael Jordan are now intervening in the embarrassing dispute between former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley and team owner James Dolan. Silver was on hand as Oakley and Dolan met Monday to try to work out problems stemming from Oakley’s removal from Madison Square Garden last week. Jordan joined them by phone.
Congrats to the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team. History!!! They are celebrating the team’s 100th straight win. The Huskies hit the century mark with Monday’s 66-55 victory over sixth-ranked South Carolina. The top-ranked Huskies also extended the longest winning streak in NCAA Division One basketball history with this win. UConn hasn’t lost a game since November 17, 2014.
