Rexnord Bearings is moving more than 300 jobs from here in Indianapolis to Mexico. Company officials made it official on Monday. They’d announced tentative plans to relocate in October, but are confirming their final decision. The company expects to begin the shutdown in April 2017, with the process taking about two months to complete. Talks about severance packages and benefits details are expected to begin today.

The spirit of protest continues in Indianapolis today. Protesters are planning to gather this afternoon downtown to show their support for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and its opposition of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Organizers invite supporters to meet at the Eiteljorg Museum at Washington and West Streets at 2 p.m. They plan to march to PNC and Chase banks along the route. They said the banks are helping pay for construction and development of the pipeline that would span for more than 1,000 miles from North Dakota to our neighboring state, Illinois. Organizers say developers want to tunnel that pipeline under the Missouri River in Lake Oahe which the Sioux tribe uses both, the lake and river, for drinking water. They want to stop its construction before it contaminates the drinking water and poisons the environment.
Everyone in Muncie including students at Ball State University are being told to boil their water today. A ‘boil order’ is in effect until 10:00 Tuesday night. Delaware County Emergency Management officials say one of the city’s water plants failed. They say the boil order is a precaution. If you have students at Ball State, get in touch with them and make sure they know so they don’t get sick.

Two senior citizens lost their lives in a deadly automobile crash with a police cruiser. An 87-year-old woman and her 86-year-old husband both died after the crash with a Lawrence police officer. The accident happened Monday afternoon near Pendleton Pike and Mitthoeffer Road. Officials say the officer was responding to a shoplifting call, but didn’t have his lights or siren on. The unnamed elderly woman died at the scene, while her husband died of his injuries later at the hospital. The officer and his K-9 are okay.
Indianapolis Metro Police are looking into what they say is a road-rage incident that sent a man to the hospital. Police say someone shot a driver near Pine and Michigan Streets late Monday morning. Ambulances rushed the man to a nearby hospital and as of last check he’s still reported in serious condition. IMPD investigators say they have only a vague description of a suspect.
The trial for two former IMPD officers accused of beating a man at a south side bar is underway. Michael Reiger and John Serban are facing felony battery charges. Prosecutors say the two men were caught on camera back in August 2014 beating Bradford Bohanon outside Mikie’s Pub located on Emerson Avenue. Defense attorneys say Bohanon was unruly and the two men acted in self-defense.
Indianapolis’ pedal-pubs will now have to get a license to operate each year, but drivers can wear jeans. Indy’s City-County Council approved a new set of regulations for the mobile pubs that can seat up to 16 people during Monday night’s meeting. Some of the changes deal with wardrobe. Indy’s old pedicab rules outlawed denim, sandals and t-shirts. The new rules keep the ban on sandals but will likely phase out the rest of the dress code.

President Barack Obama is now in Greece, the first leg of his final foreign tour as president. Obama has said he’ll use the trip to reassure anxious allies that Washington will honor its commitment to “core strategic relationships” around the world, including NATO. His trip will also include stops in Germany and Peru. This trip comes as President Obama begins to facilitate the transition of power to President-elect Donald Trump. He says he’s confident Trump is committed to maintaining strategic U.S. relationships around the world. He also insisted that the U.S. is in better shape than it was when he entered the White House eight years ago. Obama told reporters before he headed overseas that the “car’s in pretty good shape” as he prepares to turn over the keys. The world, particularly of political journalism, is mourning the death of longtime PBS anchor Gwen Ifill. Ifill was notably absent from their election coverage last week. Ifill was one of the most prominent African-Americans in the journalism industry. She passed away Monday after a very private battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and close friends when she transitioned. The 61-year-old was the co-host of PBS’s NewsHour and also moderated “Washington Week,” both seen here in Indy on WFYI-TV 20. Ifill’s resume included work at The Washington Post, The New York Times, and NBC News where she worked closely with the late-Tim Russert on their political show “Meet the Press.” She is the author of the book, The Break-Through: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama. (Personal note:) A mentor and a friend to so many of us in the journalism business—and a dear sister in the National Association of Black Journalists of which she was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2012—Ifill, her openness, and that quick wit of hers will be truly missed. Blessings of comfort to her family and close friends at this difficult time.

Donald Trump may be close to announcing his pick for secretary of state. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has expressed interest in the job. The former federal prosecutor is believed to be the frontrunner. Former UN ambassador John Bolton is also being mentioned as a candidate. Recently, the Trump transition team confirmed that the President-elect tapped RNC Chairman Reince Priebus to be his Chief of Staff and Breitbart News’ former chief Steve Bannon to take on the role of chief strategist and senior adviser. Some groups, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, have accused Breitbart of championing white nationalism under Bannon’s direction.
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders says Donald Trump reached out to people in ways that no one else running for the White House did. On “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Monday night, Sanders said Trump tapped into a lot of pain and anxiety, and angst. He also said his election win shouldn’t be seen as a huge victory since Hillary Clinton actually won the popular vote.
A Georgia man accused of intentionally leaving his son to die in his hot SUV has been found guilty on all counts. Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds says there are no winners in the trial of Justin Ross Harris. Prosecutors pointed to Harris’ Internet history as evidence that he wanted to live a child-free lifestyle.
Amazon is going to have to pay back parents whose children made unauthorized purchases at the online retailer’s app store. A federal judge late last week directed Amazon to set up a year-long process to reimburse parents whose children made in-app purchases without permission.
Travel experts say a million more Americans will be traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday. AAA’s new travel forecast, out on Tuesday, says holiday weekend travelers will be up by a million over last year because of a boost in consumer confidence.

It wasn’t pretty win…but at least it was a win for the Pacers as they took on their old coach’s new team—the Orlando Magic Monday night and showed them what they’re made of. They sent former head coach Frank Vogel’s Magic out of Indy in with a 88 to 69 defeat. C.J. Miles hit four threes and had a team-high 16 points off the bench in the victory. The Pacers host the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. Eastern at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Yes, that socially (and politically) conscious LeBron James will be here in Indy tomorrow night.

The world’s highest-paid actor is now the ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’ People magazine bestowed the 2016 honor to the movie star and former WWE champ Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson is the first non-white star to be named Sexiest man since Denzel Washington in 1996.
