Mike Phillips, Prince’s Music Director on the Musicology Tour, talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about his latest days with the music icon, breaking down the artist vs the musician and he remembers the epic jam sessions that would last until the sun came up.

On the last time he saw Prince:

“It was probably the last show I did with him. We did three show at the House of Blues. It was all night. We started at 10p and ended at 7am. Prince the artist really flourished during the big arena shows, but when you saw Prince the musician at the smaller venues, that’s when you saw him put the guitar down and pick up the bass. It was a party until you saw the sun coming up,” Phillips said.
