The music industry’s biggest night is tonight. Artist, Kendrick Lamar is nominated for eleven Grammys this year including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Taylor Swift and The Weeknd are each up for seven nominations including Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Tori Kelly and Sam Hunt are both nominated for Best New Artist, and Nicki Minaj is up for Best Rap Album. LL Cool J will pilot the musical ship as host for the fifth year in a row. Performances include Adele, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Lady Gaga. The Grammy Awards will air live at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS.

Many observers are waiting with baited breath for how social commentary will come up throughout the show, post-Super Bowl 50 backlash and praise of Beyonce’s performance and ahead of the diversity challenged Oscars. The Grammys has a history of not shying away from social activism.
