7/01/15-

Dear Tom,

Four years ago, my mother and step-dad, Willie Mae and Jerry Sheppard, were given custody of their grand-daughters from my step-brother. The children are now, ages 7, 6, 5 and 4.

My mother works in a store and earns an hourly wage and my step-dad is on disability, which means that they are raising their grandbabies on fixed-incomes.  They don’t receive food stamps or any other assistance from the children’s parents or out-side sources.

In early august, all four of my nieces will be in elementary school.  My mother is deeply concerned about how she and my step-dad will provide new clothes, shoes and the school supplies they will all need so soon.   I know they are doing the best that they can, but they are stretched thin.

So please Mr. Joyner, consider my mother and step-dad for the Christmas wish by making their financial load a little bit lighter by helping them get their grand-children ready for a new school year.
