Severe weather is threatening all of central Indiana later this Tuesday afternoon. You may want to keep your umbrellas handy today because Forecasters say rain could be heavy with damaging wind, as well as the possibility of isolated tornadoes. The threat will fade as the evening hours arrive..
A SWAT situation on the west side is now resolved without incident. Indy metro police say IMPD officers were called to the scene of a robbery at around three o’clock this morning at 700 S. Worth Ave. They say four people came out of the house about an hour after police surrounded the property. The occupants told police they’d been robbed, but they couldn’t say what had been taken. Police say there’ve been multiple drug runs to the house in the past. At this hour, police are questioning three people that they’ve taken into custody—two men and a woman.

This incident isn’t the only thing adding to a crime wave that Indy has seen. It’s been a particularly violent ending to the Memorial Day weekend and it’s is keeping IMPD busy. Police investigators are looking into the shootings of at least six people since 5 p.m. Monday evening. They suspect two of the shootings were related. One of those related shootings was a fatality where one man was shot in the head on the west side in the 800 block of Chapelwood Boulevard, near North Girls School Road and West 10th Street.
The death of an IMPD officer is under investigation. Detectives were called to the officer’s house mid-morning on Monday. The incident is being called suspicious because it’s the second time since April that a death has occurred inside the home. The officer’s name hasn’t yet been released, but officials say he was a 15-year veteran of the police department and worked as a detective.
A three-year-old is in critical condition after being hit by a car. IMPD says the little boy and his father were leaving the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis Monday when he wandered into the street. The driver of the vehicle is also in critical condition. Police say he swerved to avoid hitting the child and instead, hit a tree.
A major economic development announcement is expected this afternoon in Indiana. Governor Mike Pence will join General Motors executives for that significant announcement at the General Motors Fort Wayne assembly plant in Roanoke at 1:15 p.m.
Another cable merger is reportedly in the works. According to sources, Charter Communications will acquire Time Warner Cable for $55 billion. The news comes a month after a Time Warner merger with Comcast fell through because of anti-trust concerns. The sale is expected to be announced today.

Authorities are investigating accusations that blues legend B.B. King was poisoned before his death at the age of 89 earlier this month. The Clark County Coroner says they are taking the allegations very seriously, but so far they have no evidence to believe that those allegations are true. An investigation by the Las Vegas Police Department’s Homicide Division is expected to take at least six weeks. According to legal documents obtained by “Us Weekly,” two of King’s daughters accuse his business manager and personal assistant of giving him unknown medications or poisons in the days before his death. An earlier investigation cleared his business manager who is in control of his estate and affairs of any wrong-doing in his care during his final days.

One child is still in the hospital this morning in Florida after a waterspout launched a bounce house into the air at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park. The child was kept at the hospital overnight for observation. Two other kids that were tossed around in and then thrown out of that airborne bounce house were treated and released from the hospital and a fourth was treated at the scene. There is video that shows a disorganized waterspout moving from the ocean onto the shore and tossing two bounce houses into the air. The city had hired a vendor to set up the family activities for the holiday weekend. Watch the video HERE.
The city of Cleveland is apparently agreeing to settle a Justice Department lawsuit over unconstitutional policing. The “New York Times” is reporting that the settlement could be announced as early as today. Last week, a judge found a Cleveland police officer not guilty of manslaughter in the shooting deaths of two unarmed suspects. The settlement would avoid a long and expensive court battle after the DOJ accused Cleveland’s police force of showing a pattern of excessive use of force. More than 70 people were arrested in the city this weekend during protests over the judge’s ruling. During that case the officer and 12 others unloaded 137 bullets into the unarmed couple’s car.
