Kobe Bryant is in the middle of a public battle with his family that is getting pretty ugly. The superstar’s mother claims that he lied in order to stop the auction of his memorabilia. In fact, his father and grandmother are both siding with Kobe’s mom, who seems hurt that her son would do such a thing to the family.
Over 100 collectibles were set to be auctioned off, pieces of Kobe’s past that he doesn’t appear to be ready to part with. Pamela Bryant, Kobe’s mother, says that her son gave her the items, and Kobe says that he wants to give them to his kids.
The items include jerseys, trophies and rings from his high school and professional career.
Kobe’s mother also accused her son and daughter-in-law of lying to the courts, stating that many of their sworn statements were false.
Namely, she says that a May 2nd phone conversation during which he claims that he demanded the return of his items never occurred in the way he says.
