Paris Jackson appeared on Oprah’s “Next Chapter” and revealed just what it was like to be the child of one of–if not the biggest–celebrities of our time. I mean, you remember the masks, the dangling baby over the balcony and the child molestation charges the late and legendary Michael Jackson faced all while tackling fatherhood. Opening up to Oprah, Paris shared details of her childhood that we’ve only gotten to experience from a distance.

“I didn’t get why I was wearing a mask. I understand it now–why my dad would want our faces to be covered. Like, when we went out without him, we wouldn’t be recognized and we could have a normal childhood,” Paris told Oprah on her “Next Chapter” interview.

Paris even goes on to tell Oprah that even as the child of a superstar, the 14-year-old still gets bullied by the kids in her school, but the memory of her father is what helps her through it. It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since Michael’s untimely death and that Paris has had to go through her toughest teenage years without her father.

In case you missed it, you can watch the full interview below.
