A third grader from Queens, New York sold his father’s handgun to a classmate at school for $3.50. He took the gun off of the top shelf in his home where his dad hid it for protection. Apparently, he didn’t hide it well enough!
The gun was illegal, and according to police, there were live rounds in the gun and the serial number had been scratched off.
The father, Ignacio Galvan, was taken into custody in Queens on charges of “criminal possession of a weapon and endagering the welfare of a child”. He is being held on $3,000 bail.
When asked about the incident, the father stated: “I can’t believe my son took it to school. Thank God no one was hurt. It’s all my fault.”
