Boxer Mayweather Takes Plea Deal In Domestic Abuse Case

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is due to take a plea deal in Las Vegas to avoid trial on felony allegations that he battered his ex-girlfriend.

The 34-year-old Mayweather is expected to plead guilty Wednesday in Las Vegas Justice Court to misdemeanor battery domestic violence and harassment charges.

An aide to Clark County District Attorney David Roger says Mayweather could be sentenced to $3,000 in fines and between two days and 18 months in the Clark County jail.

The plea deal avoids an evidentiary hearing on felony grand larceny, coercion and robbery charges, plus misdemeanor domestic battery and harassment charges in a September 2010 argument involving Mayweather’s ex-girlfriend and two of their children.

The undefeated prizefighter could have faced 34 years in state prison if convicted of all charges.

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — An Irvine couple who suspected their 15-year-old son of smoking turned to a man believed to be relied on in their church to violently discipline children, authorities said.

The parents asked Paul Kim, 39, to discipline their son after finding a lighter in his possession, dropping the boy off at Kim’s Chino Hills home with permission for the beating, San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokesperson Cindy Bachmann said Saturday.

Kim hit the child with a metal pole about a dozen times, causing severe bruising on his legs, according to Bachmann. The pole was about an inch in diameter, investigators said.

An adult at the boy’s school saw the bruises and called Irvine police, who in turn informed San Bernardino County officials, she said.

Kim was arrested Tuesday at his home and released Thursday after posting bail. He faces a felony charge of willful cruelty to a child. No court date has been set, according to jail records.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office was reviewing the sheriff’s department report and will decide whether to charge the teen’s father, Bachman said. It wasn’t immediately known whether the father was present at the time of the beating.

The names of the boy and his parents were not released.

Investigators believe Kim has been used in this way by other families in the congregation, and asked for victims and witnesses to come forward.

The name of the church was not released but Bachman said it was located in La Habra.

It wasn’t immediately known whether Kim had hired an attorney. A message left at a Chino Hills listing with his name was not returned Saturday.

Durham, North Carolina police said they found former Duke rape accuser Chrystal Mangum and 33-year-old boyfriend Milton Walker fighting. Police said Mangum went into a bathroom and set some clothes on fire in a bathtub.

WRAL-TV reports that Mangum scratched, punched and threw objects at Walker, telling him, “I’m going to stab you!” Walker died a few days later.

7. Man Says Girlfriend With No Hands Or Legs Threw Urine On Him

Jacoby Laquan Smith, a man from Minnesota, was recently accused of abusing his girlfriend who is a quadruple amputee. Smith, who is a accused of hitting his girlfriend, Tiesha Bell, ten times in the face said that he was simply defending himself.

Smith told a reporter that Bell was cheating on him, which led to an argument and a fight, in which she hit him in the groin and threw a bedpan full of urine on him. Smith said that Bell has a bad temper and “swung, pushed him down and choked him with her nubs” and would hit him with her wheelchair.

6. Woman Kills Boyfriend By Sitting On Him

An obese woman who killed her boyfriend by sitting on him will not serve any time behind bars.

Mia Landingham pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to three years probation and 100 hours of community service, according to CBS affiliate WOIO.

Landingham, who was believed to weigh over 300 pounds at the time of the Aug. 2009 incident, sat on Mikal Middleton-Bey as he was face first on the couch.

5. Woman Charged With Assaulting Boyfriend With Hot Grits

A Louisiana woman is charged with getting back at her sleeping boyfriend after a fight by scalding him with a pot of boiling grits.

Sheriff’s deputies say 44-year-old Carolyn Brown caused second-degree burns on the man’s face and arms.

Brown was booked on a second-degree battery charge.

4. Woman Pours Boiling Water On Cheating Husband’s Crotch

In a twisted act of revenge, Oyinda Ojofeitimi, 67, a registered nurse, carried out the crotch-scalding attack to ensure her spouse stopped cheating, cops said.

“She was hurt and angry that after all this time married, he was stepping out on her,” a police source said. “She wanted to shut down that possibility forever because he had treated her with such contempt.”

3. Tiger Woods Attacked By Wife

Tiger Wood’s wife confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We’re told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV — but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.

We’re told Woods became “distracted,” thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.

A Southern California woman drugged her estranged husband, tied him to a bed, cut off his penis and put it through a garbage disposal, according to authorities.

Garden Grove police Lt. Jeff Nightengale said Catherine Kieu Becker drugged a meal and served it to the victim, whose name was not released, shortly before the attack.

Nightengale said the 51-year-old man felt sick, went to lie down and lost consciousness. The 48-year-old Becker then tied the victim’s arms and legs to the bed with rope, removed his clothes and attacked him with a 10-inch kitchen knife as he awoke, Nightengale said.

According to TMZ, rapper Tone Loc was arrested for felony domestic violence after an alleged altercation with the mother of his child. NEW YORK–Police claim that Aretavia Kimbrough smashed he boyfriend, Charmean Allen, with a cooking pot because he forgot to give her a mother’s day gift. The New York Post reports:

“I hit him with a pot, and I’m glad I did!” a steamed Aretavia Kimbrough, 28, allegedly told cops after nailing boyfriend Charmean Allen, 28, with the pot, leaving him with a 4-inch gash and a big lump on his head.

“I’ve been with him for seven years, and he never bought me nothing! ”

But Allen, who has an 8-month-old son with Kimbrough, later insisted to The Post, “I was going to get her balloons and candy and take her to dinner.

QUEENS-Alexander Figueroa, shot and killed the mother of his two children, Giummia Villa at her job at a pharmacy with a bouquet of flowers before killing himself, police say. The New York Daily News reports:

Villa, 32, was at the register at Crescent Chemists on 34th Ave. in Long Island City when Figueroa, 38, walked in with the flowers about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, sources said.

“They talk and then I heard ‘Pop!’” said witness Maria Lombar, 65. “I saw her on the ground. She went down dead. Blood was all over.”

Karrine Steffans aka “Superhead” has written an open letter on domestic violence. The video vixen wrote the letter to VIBE detailing violence she’s suffered at the hands of her significant other. Without naming names, the “wife” of “Family Matters” actor Darius Mccray told the publication that she’s been “belitted” by someone she’s cared about for years.

Here’s what she had to say:

I’ve been a victim of abuse all my life –– literally, for as long as I can remember. It is my norm. Whereas most people would run in the other direction the moment someone physically, emotionally, or mentally abuses them –– I stay.

It’s a sickness and just when I think I am cured, the cancer spreads.
