Millie Jackson will be featured on this week episode of TV-One’s music documentary series, ‘Unsung’.

Millie Jackson was known for being brassy, bold, saucy, and explicit…long before it was ‘cool’ for ladies to be seen in this light. In many ways, she kicked down doors of expression for many women that came after here, including Madonna, Lil Kim, and pretty much any lady that had the brass to tell it like it is. You could go so far as to say she was a ‘proto-rapper’, with her infamous monologues.

Here’s a great example of Millie Jackson’s work. It was one of the highlights of her live show for years. This is her version of ‘If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don’t Wanna Be Right)’ featuring ‘The Rap’.

On the heels of his current single “When a Woman Loves,” R. Kelly will release its accompanying album, “Love Letter,” on Dec. 14 via Jive Records.

The title track of Kelly’s 11^th studio album will be released as the second single on Nov. 22, along with its holiday-themed remix, “Love Letter Christmas.”

“When a Woman Loves,” written and produced by Kelly, is currently at No. 23 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

“Love Letter” caps off a year in which Kelly released the official World Cup anthem “Sign of a Victory” as well as “Epic,” a greatest-hits compilation issued exclusively in Europe. “Untitled,” the singer’s last full-length released in December 2009, has sold 334,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

A rep for Aretha Franklin says the singer’s son has been severely beaten at a gas station in Detroit.

Gwendolyn Quinn says in a statement that Eddie Franklin was assaulted Monday night and was undergoing surgery at a Detroit-area hospital. The statement says three people may have been involved in the beating.

Quinn says she didn’t have any additional information beyond the statement.

The Queen of Soul is one of the most honored musicians in American history, having won numerous Grammys; the National Medal of Arts; the Presidential Medal of Freedom and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We are sad to say that today is the 9th anniversary of Aaliyah’s tragic death in a plane crash. The singer was one of nine people aboard a twin-engine plane that crashed seconds after taking off from the Bahamas. All nine died.  Aaliyah was in the Bahamas shooting a video.

Erykah Badu will have to pay for her public strip tease on a Dallas street.

The singer has agreed to pay a $500 fine and serve six months probation for shedding her clothes in a video filmed at the site where president John F. Kennedy was shot dead in 1963, the Dallas Morning News has reported.

Badu, a native of Dallas, paid the fine on Friday, a city spokesman told the Texas newspaper.

In the video, titled “Window Seat,” Badu descends from a car and in broad daylight walks down the street shedding her clothes. Families and workers appear in background stunned and surprised.

The five-minute, 35 second video, filmed in one take in March, ends when Badu pretends she has been shot and snaps her head back.

The Grammy award-winning singer was charged with disorderly conduct when tourists and visitors complained, the newspaper reported.

Badu explained via a Twitter message that the video was a declaration against “groupthink,” and that she was more concerned about police interrupting the filming than about appearing nude in public.

*The upcoming dancing-and-singing “Michael Jackson The Experience” video game will feature such iconic hits from the King of Pop as “Bad,” “Beat It” and “Billie Jean,” according to the game’s publisher Ubisoft.

The company announced the song list Wednesday at the Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany. The title is scheduled to be released in November for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii, as well as the handheld consoles Nintendo DSand PlayStation Portable.

As previously reported, “Michael Jackson The Experience” will be among the first to use Kinect and Move, the respective motion-detecting camera systems for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 due out this holiday season.

“Your goal is to dance like Michael,” said Ubisoft’s marketing vice president Tony Key. “Do what the guy on the screen is doing and you’re there. It’ll score you based on the quality of your performance.”

Other tunes for the game centered on the late King of Pop include “Earth Song,” “The Girl Is Mine,” “Who Is It” and “Workin’ Day And Night.”
