Super Bowl Sunday is coming up fast. You have the food and drinks ready for the Super Bowl party and your favorite team’s paraphernalia ironed and starched. But you’ve forgotten that there may be a cute girl or guy at the party you might want to impress. You can’t go to the tailgating party in your puffy coats and mittens and pull a hot girl. What you need is the right cigar to show your cool.

Michael Herklots, executive director of retail and brand development for Nat Sherman, talked with NewsOne.com about how to tailgate in style and choose the right cigar. Nat Sherman, Inc. has been a New York tobacco institution since 1930, working with manufacturers throughout the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras.

Everyone in the Giants organization smokes Nat Sherman cigars. Announcer Bob Papa, the official Giants announcer, can be heard every time the Giants score, saying, “Give that man a Nat Sherman cigar!”

“You don’t have to look like an idiot to tailgate,” Herklots says. “You can be a little fashion forward hanging out by the grill. Cigars add to your style either for pre-game or post-game celebration, or you can smoke for mourning a loss.”

You shouldn’t be lighting up a big Churchill or a big Double Corona in the winter. In the cold, you’re less able to pick up some of the nuances of milder cigars, so you need something with a little fuller flavor, says Herklots. Tailgating in colder weather takes a particular style, so from a cigar perspective, smaller formats are key.

Here are a few cigars Herklots recommends:

1) The Nat Sherman Host Hobart

A robusto format (a shorter, fatter shaped cigar). It’s Honduran, medium-bodied, and there’s a sweetness on the cap right when it touches your lips. It’s an easy-to-taste cigar, so you’re not fighting for nuances when you’re in the cold. It’s really smooth and creamy.

Cost: $5. CBuy at NatSherman.com or at local retail tobacco stores.

2) A Metropolitan Maduro Union

A robust format—made in the Dominican Republic. Because of the maduro wrapper it adds a little bit more body and fuller flavor, but it also has a sweetness, but in this case the sweetness is natural because of the fermentation process this wrapper goes through.

Cost: $5

3) The Nat’s Point Five

It’s like a half a cigar. It’s a little petite Corona and they come packed in five packs. They come in a natural wrapper and a maduro wrapper. But the maduro wrapper is going to be fuller, so it will stand up better to the cold. They’re great if you feel like a little quick something. They come in five packs so you can share with your friends at the tailgate.

Cost: $14 per pack

Lighting the cigars when tailgating is a challenge. We don’t recommend putting your face in the grill to light the cigar.

Here are some stylish lighters:

1) S.T. Dupont—have a lighter called the Maxi Jet—it’s a single flamed torch lighter, single action to ignite. If you want to balance functionality and style Maxi Jet is the best.

Cost: $200 each

2) Xikar, Colibri, and Lotus companies make less expensive torch lighters-$25-$100.

Make sure you bring an extra can of butane gas for your lighter and a travel humidor, so they hold up in cold weather.

Parks’ act of defiance became a major player in the civil rights movement and caught the attention of leaders like Martin Luther King Jr.

Though President Barack Obama has been the target of heated criticism for his perceived reluctance to directly address the ills that plague the African-American community, he is not shy about asking for our vote. Just in time for Black History Month, Obama has launched the African-Americans for Obama campaign to energize and mobilize Black supporters to “Barack the Vote” once again when they go to the polls in November.

SEE ALSO: Why Liberals Should Love Newt

In the video, he shares his understanding of the plight of everyday Americans and juxtaposes it with emotional — or so he hopes — references to the Civil Rights Movement and slavery and urges Black voters to “keep making history”:

This month we are announcing the 2012 launch of African Americans for Obama. I don’t think there’s a better time than African-American history month to consider the tremendous progress that we’ve made through the sacrifices of so many, or a better time to commit to meeting the very real challenges we face right now.

Every day I think of the generations of African-American men and women who overcame slavery and oppression, risked their own safety to cast a ballot, even gave up their lives to help build a country that lived up to its founding principles. Their extraordinary hope, their unwavering determination changed this country. Their efforts made it possible for somebody like me to be here today.”

Still, according to a statement on BarackObama.com, that shouldn’t stop African-Americans from coming out in droves in November in support of the president:

In some ways this election is more important than the last for our community. If we fail to re-elect President Obama, some people will say everything we’ve accomplished since 2008 was a fluke. That’s why we’ve got to speak loudly about his accomplishments and make sure that, throughout the campaign, we’ve got President Obama’s back.”

For many in the African-American community, that decision hinges upon clear evidence that Obama has ours.

After Mitt Romney‘s big win in the Florida GOP Primary Tuesday night, Romney told CNN that poor people are not his focus, according to the Associated Press.

SEE ALSO: Why Liberals Should Love Newt

While discussing his win over Newt Gingrich, Romney brought up the issue of poor people, saying, “[I'm] not concerned about the very poor” [because they have an] “ample safety net.” Driving his point home, Romney added, “You can focus on the very poor, that’s not my focus.”

What is Romney focusing on? The middle class, “I’m not concerned about the very poor.” he said. “We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich. They’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling.”

According to the NY Times, poverty in this country is at its highest level at 46.2 million Americans living below the poverty line. Just last year, 2.6 million people joined the ranks of poverty in this country. To contextualize these numbers some more, these current poverty levels are the highest the Census Bureau has ever recorded poverty in this country in 52 years.

With Romney being worth $200 million, he has already been criticized for being out of touch with the majority of Americans, but with the poverty ranks of this country swelling to such levels, one really has to wonder what a president like Romney would do for this country and its indigent population.

More pointedly, with African Americans having the highest unemployment levels in the nation at 15.8 percent and having taken the hardest hit to home ownership with the subprime lending fiasco, one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that Romney for president means he is clearly “not focused” on Black people.

Former Patriots defensive lineman Jarvis Green remembers playing against the Giants in the Super Bowl like it was yesterday.

In the 2007 Super Bowl, quarterback Eli Manning managed to escape the grasp of Green and completed a pass to David Tyree that would later result in a winning score. The end result was a 17-14 loss for the Patriots to the Giants.

Green couldn’t sleep for weeks because of that play and would sometimes wake up in cold sweats. Today, he’s still wide awake to watch the rematch of the Giants and the Patriots, hoping for redemption.

NewsOne: What are the differences between the team today and what are their chances?

Jarvis Green: There are seven guys from the ’07 year that are still there now, and they are a very important part of the chemistry of the team. Of course, they’re also older players.

I think what’s different is that we have a really strong defense compared to then, so that’s the biggest thing. [The Giants have] an Eli Manning. He had a helluva game in ’07, but he’s playing probably the best football of his career this year, so that makes a difference.

I think the front seven this year is better than the front seven we had in ’07. They got a good line. I think the biggest thing for this upcoming game is they get rid of the ball and make some big plays.

NewsOne: What do you think the Patriots need to look out for?

JG: I think the pass rush and watching them dive on second and third down, because the Giants have plenty of good cornerbacks. Also, they have to make sure that Gronkowski, the big tight end, doesn’t get jammed, if he gets jammed, the game is over.

NewsOne: What do you think the Giants should look out for?

JG: They need to look out for their tight end, make sure not to allow [quarterback] Tom Brady to get hot, and also I think the sleeper of the game are the running backs. If the Giants rush the way they rush the middle, it’s going to be pretty much wide open for them to get in there and have a power running attack.

NewsOne: Do you think the momentum is that much stronger because of the momentum from 2007?

JG: I think so. I remember I talked with one of my friends that owns a restaurant at the stadium and she said the pep rally had 25,000 people in the stands. I said that was probably the biggest crowd ever. I think it’s gonna something different.

NewsOne: What’s your prediction?

JG: I gotta say that with these two teams, it’s not gonna be a blowout. It’s gonna be a helluva game all the way down to the wire.

NewsOne: Talk about that 2007 game. What were some of the major mistakes for the Patriots?
JG: The major mistake was that the Giants got to Brady a lot. He played the game on his back. We had a lot of momentum changes in the game. We played them all the way through the entire game until that last drive—I think that changed my life. After that game I didn’t sleep at all, because I kept replaying that play.

NewsOne: Do you think there’s more momentum for the Patriots or are people rooting for the Giants?

JG: I know when I played, people loved to hate us because they thought we were too successful. It’s sad because the Giants beat the Patriots this year, but who is the underdog for this Super Bowl? The best team is gonna win. That’s all I can say.

South African citizens are in a panic after free condoms handed out during the African National Congress political party’s 100-year anniversary celebration were found to be defective as reported by the Associated Press.

SEE ALSO: Topless Protesters Detained In Ukraine

Activist Sello Mokhalipi of the Treatment Action Campaign, an organization that advocates for people with HIV/AIDS, said that complaints of the condoms and their defects have been reported.

We had people flocking in, coming to report that the condoms had burst while they were having sex, said Mokhalipi.

In the judicial capital province of Free State, health department spokesperson Jabu Mbalula said that his department recalled all 1,350,000 condoms but urged that there was no need for alarm –although he was unable to quote a direct number of used or recovered condoms.

Mr. Mokhalipi also added that some of the users who complained of the defective and reportedly porous condoms were infected with AIDS and concerned that they may have infected their partners.

We want the department to go out and tell people about these faulty condoms, Mokhalipi said. How can they say people should not panic if there are still clearly people out there in possession of these condoms?

In 2007, 20-million defective condoms were recalled by the government, and the following year, 5-million condoms had to be taken off the market due to faulty manufacturing. In 2009, a reported 5.6-million people were living with AIDS and HIV in South Africa, an infection rate that is more than any other country.

A Georgia judge has seized control of former basketball great Allen Iverson‘s bank accounts and will begin garnishing his earnings in order to repay the hefty debt of $859,896.46 to his jeweler, according to TMZ.

Iverson was sued by Aydin & Company Jewelers back in 2010, after not taking care of a whopping $375,000 bill he incurred at the retailer. Since Iverson never responded to the lawsuit, the courts then issued a default judgment in favor of the jeweler to cover the cost of the bling, interest, and court and attorney’s fees. Ignoring the bill only resulted in the judge allowing the jeweler to tap into the 11-time NBA Allstar’s Wells Fargo accounts.

The last time Iverson played was for the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2009-2010 season, but he left after only playing a few months and missing five games due to some mysterious health issues that had afflicted his then-4-year-old daughter.

As to whether or not Aydin & Company will get their monies from the man who was once given the esteemed title of being the 5th greatest NBA shooting guard of all time by ESPN, it is yet to be seen. In 2010, it was widely reported that Iverson was flat broke and deep in debt. There was talk that a relative who had loaned Iverson money went as far as to contact NBA teams for a contract for him so that the debt would be repaid.

In August of last year, Iverson was also sued for a reported $2.5 million by a man who claimed that he was assaulted by one of the player’s body guards in a 2009 bar fight. A federal judge, however, dismissed the case based on insufficient evidence.

The most damaging news of all, though, came from an article that was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer back in March 2010. The columnist alleged that according to reliable sources, Iverson would “either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away.” The writer went on to state that Iverson had been banned by major casinos in Detroit and in Atlantic City. He also alleged that Iverson’s wife had filed for divorce and sought sole custody of their five children in addition to alimony, child support, and a share of their assets.

Although, the latter did come to pass last December, Iverson’s estranged wife, Tawanna, claimed that her husband failed to pay child support and was instead spending extravagantly. She accused Iverson of withdrawing large amounts of money, including $20,000 to buy jewelry from the account that she had been using to pay rent and to maintain a home for their children.
