The Tina Turner Museum is now open. Tennessee’s “Jackson Sun” newspaper says hundreds of fans turned out from as far away as Sweden for last Friday’s ribbon-cutting event. While Tina wasn’t there personally she sent a video to the event, calling it “an exciting day” and “truly a great honor.” The museum has been two years in the making. It’s housed in the restored building that was once Nutbush, Tennessee’s Flagg Grove School, where Tina — then known as Anna Mae Bullock — received her formal education as a child. The building is now at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center in Brownsville, roughly eleven miles southeast of Nutbush. Turner was among the contributors to the project, which cost more than 150-thousand dollars. She’s also donated memorabilia for the museum’s displays.
