Mick Jagger says he feels a sense of gratitude toward the late Godfather of Soul. “Variety” says the Rolling Stones frontman shared his motivation to develop the James Brown biopic at the New York City premiere of “Get On Up,” which was screened at the historic Apollo Theater Monday night. Jagger explained that he appreciated how Brown was “very generous and kind” to him, adding that the R&B legend “wasn’t kind with everybody.” Mick also admitted that he “always studied” Brown’s moves, and he really admired the way James “always gave his best and always changed up his style.”
“Get On Up” will open in theaters on August 1st. But that’s not the only James Brown project Jagger has in the works. He’s also serving as a producer for the upcoming documentary “Mr. Dynamite: James Brown and the Power of Soul.”
