In 1980, comedian Richard Pryor suffered third-degree burns over most of his body while free-basing cocaine. He was hospitalized for more than two months.
In 1989, Sammy Davis Junior makes his final appearance on “Late Night with David Letterman.” Davis died almost a year later.
In 1992, William Pinkney, became the first black man to sail solo around the world, after completing his 32,000 mile trip.
