Carol and Willie Fowler were surely disappointed when their daughter called off her wedding, but they saw no reason for the food they paid for to go to waste. What they did next is remarkable…the Fowlers reached out to Hosea Feed The Hungry, an Atlanta organization that serves families in need and turned the cancelled reception into an evening that fed more than 200 homeless people at an exclusive Atlanta reception and wedding hall.

Carol Fowler told Here and Now she prayed about what to do when they discovered their daughter had decided against going forward with her nuptials; “…when (my husband) woke up the next morning, he said, we’re going to call Hosea Feed the Hungry and ask if we can donate it to the needy. I immediately looked up the number and called and spoke with Mrs. Elisabeth Omilami, and in doing so, we partnered. And it was such a wonderful feeling just to partner with them.”

Mrs. Omilami said when she received the call from the Fowlers, she thought it was a joke… “At first, I thought it was a prank call because it was such an amazing offering,”, when she figured out that the wool wasn’t being pulled over her eyes, she started calling shelters in the Atlanta area and letting them know “The Fowlers are having a party for you. All you have to do is get there.”
