CNN is reporting Aaron Alexis, the alleged gunman in the Washington Navy Yard shootings that left 13 dead, including himself, had at least eight incidents of misconduct in the Navy. He also had frequent encounters with the law and had contacted Veterans Administration hospitals about psychological issues.
Now the question is; how did he get back in and did the military know things that the press picked up within hours of the shootings? Some of the major questions that the shootings has brought to the forefront involve the vetting process.
“Washington needs a lot more answers,” Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-Washington.
Retired Navy Cmdr. Kirk Lippold told CNN, Alexis’ past troubles and incidents “should have been a red flag that maybe we need to delve a little deeper into this individual.”
Alexis was back at the Navy Yard after receiving a honorable discharge from service, working as a contractor. He was with a group called The Experts, which was subcontracting a large military contract with Hewlett Packard.
