It appears Rev. Al Sharpton’s non-profit group has some woes courtesy of the IRS. According to filings with the state of New York and the IRS, the National Action Network has $871,688 in unpaid payroll taxes including penalties and interest.
The foundation has been having financial problems for years, operating at a deficit of more than $1 million. Sharpton himself has loaned approximately $111,000 to the organization.
A spokesperson for the National Action Network has not commented yet.
Speaking in an interview on MSN moneyNOW, Daniel Borocoff said, “It’s a red flag that the group may go under.”
