It was just sixteen years ago when Dominique Dawes was in the same “leotard” as Gabby
Douglas. A young, African- American teen, going for the gold in the Olympics in a sport where black women were not prevalent.
After yesterday’s win in the Olympic All-Around, Douglas became the first black Olympic gymnast to win All-Around Gold. And just the second black gymnast to win gold ever, after legendary Dominique Dawes.
We are so proud of them both!
