Gabrielle Union’s upcoming BET drama has been given a name change. Formerly called “Single Black Female,” the show will now be called “Being Mary Jane,” Mary Jane obviously being the name of Gabrielle’s character.
In a press release issued earlier today, a bit more information about the premise of the show was also revealed.
“A show unlike any other drama on television, ‘Being Mary Jane’ will be an opportunity to explore the life of a statistic often reported but never explored.”
A bit of extra casting news was also revealed. Gabrielle will reportedly be joined by Aaron D. Spears (The Bold & the Beautiful), who will play her co-worker and Richard Roundtree (Shaft), who will play her father.
