Bus driver and student die in crash 

(Indianapolis)  —  Investigators at this hour still do not know what caused yesterday morning’s fatal bus crash. Thomas Spencer II, 60, and Donasty Smith, 5,  were killed in the incident when Spencer hit a support beam for a bridge near the 900 block of Prospect Street and Emerson Avenue around 7: 40 a.m.  IMPD says they are waiting for autopsy results on Spencer to determine if he suffered a medical condition which may have caused him to lose control of the bus. The passengers were students at Lighthouse Charter School. Ten other students were hospitalized.  

More details released about bus driver arrested on molestation charges

(Noblesville)  —  A bus driver arrested earlier this week on felony charges of child molestation and child exploitation is facing new accusations this morning.   Court documents indicate  Garrett Cornell, 42, allegedly molested two young sisters over the course of several years.  The victims are now nine and 12-years-old, and once lived in his home.  Police were called when Cornell’s son found a video on a camcorder of the Cornell with hte 9-year-old daughter of his girlfriend.

 Doctor accused of fondling patients

(Indianapolis)  —  Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is sending out a call to any female patients of a local doctor accused of battery.  Several female patients have reported to authorities alleging that Dr. Segun Rasaki inappropriately touched them at his office on North Meridian. Rasaki was arrested and has been charged with battery and sexual battery, both felonies.  Anyone with information is urged to call the IMPD’s Sex Crimes Unit at 317-327-3332.

Brizzi reprimanded by Indiana Supreme Court

(Indianapolis)  —  Former Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi has received a public reprimand by the state’s highest court for comments he made when filing charges in one of the city’s highest profile murder cases. A complaint by the Indiana Supreme Court’s Disciplinary Commission in 2009 accused Brizzi of making improper comments about two defendants facing seven counts of murder in the city’s worst mass murder and about an Illinois trucker suspected of killing an Indianapolis woman. The justices ruled those comments could have biased the outcome of the cases. Desmond Turner and James Stewart are both serving life in prison for the 2006 murders of four adults and three children in their Hamilton Street home .

IU team set to take on New Mexico State

(Bloomington)  —  Tip-off time is 9:45 p.m. on Thursday for the Indiana Hoosiers  in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday when they take on New Mexico State.  IU is the fourth seed in the South Region. Indiana and New Mexico State will play in Portland, Oregon with the tip-off scheduled for around 9:45 p.m. Thursday.  The winner will face the winner of the Wichita State — VCU game Sunday.
