HIV Drug Found To Prevent The Spread Of The Virus

HIV Virus Pill Two study have found that Truvada, a pill used to treat HIV, is likely to prevent heterosexual men and women from catching the virus.

One study, conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, focused on men and women in Botswana. The other study, conducted by a researcher at The University of Washington and backed by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, involved heterosexual couples in Uganda and Kenya.

Among those believed to be taking the pills regularly, just four people on Truvada became infected with HIV in comparison with 19 on the fake pill. That means Truvada takers cut their risk of infection by approximately 78%.
